The ending was fitting for a Hollywood TV series (good destroys evil, the fate of the world being in one character’s hands), but fans cannot get enough of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things.
The fifth and final season of the show drew in 3.4 million viewers completely glued to their seats according to Variety, long considered the leading TV & movie industry magazine. If you have been wondering what all the buzz has been about before you dive in, here’s a quick look at how the story begins.
From the very first episode, Stranger Things grabs the viewer’s attention by mixing adventure, mystery, and a little bit of fear.
The show is set in the 1980s in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana, where a young boy suddenly goes missing. As his friends search for him, they uncover strange events, secret experiments, and a mysterious girl with unusual powers.
With its exciting story and strong focus on friendship, Stranger Things keeps viewers hooked while reminding them how powerful teamwork and loyalty can be.
Capturing Hearts And Characters
Even years after its debut, the show continues to capture the hearts of many people. Stranger Things has a mix of mystery, friendship, adventures, and many interactions with the supernatural, which is what kept viewers hooked and excited for the last and final season.
At first, the fictional town seems like a normal place, but quickly takes a dark turn with government lab experiments, monsters, and an alternate dimension called the Upside Down.
The show mixes horror with sci-fi, but that’s not all the show is about. It is also about friendship, family and growing up.
“I love how the show really shows how strong the friendships are,” said Sophia, a sophomore Scholar and devoted fan. “You feel like you’re growing up with the characters.”
In the show, many of the characters go through different traumas and everyday struggles; issues most of us can relate to. For example, Eleven (also known as Jane) was taken from her mother and was raised in a lab where she was studied because of her unique powers.
Other characters include Hopper, who lost his daughter to Cancer. He is protective, but also has an angry side. Dustin is smart and funny. Lucas is brave and realistic and his will is strong; a brave leader even after all he goes through in the show.
Throwback Look, Modern Feel
Like many viewers, Scholar Ari was drawn to Eleven’s journey.
“I would probably say Eleven because in the beginning of the show, she was shy and scared but now she’s had a big character development and now is confident and brave.”
The 1980s setting makes the show feel special. From the clothes all the way down to the music and playing outdoors, the show really connects with some of the older viewers and gives a nostalgic feeling.
Stranger Things is more than just a sci-fi horror show. It gives fan reasons to relate to it because of the way it shows growing up, learning to heal, and friends taking care of each other.
The monsters in the Upside Down – a dark, dangerous place that feels like the real world (especially the town of Hawkins) – make the show exciting but also the real reason the show is powerful is because of its heartfelt friendship, love, courage, and hope. These things can truly defeat the darkness.
Creators of Stranger Things (The Duffer Brothers) created something that mixes nostalgia with real world struggles. That’s what the show connects to so many people and why you should check it out!
