More Sports, Please.

- November 28, 2023

Some students feel as if the school does not offer so many and the ones that are offered are either full or hard to join the teams. Sports like Cheerleading, Volleyball, Track, Basketball and Football attract the most attention when there are other opportunities to bring more sports to Creek.

Senior Andrew Kerr, says he feels as if the sport choices are “limited.” He says, “They are not that many non-popular sports options here, it’s just the same thing just, basketball, football, cheerleading and Football.”

Creek Parents Want More Sports, Too.

I asked Andrew Kerr’s mom how she felt about her child not taking part in the extracurricular activity that he would like to.

“I wish they had swimming or something for him to do after school,” she said. “He isn’t into all those hard sports that they have.” – Creek Parent

I hear our students make complaints about how other schools in the Broward County District have access to more options of sports choices than they do. Schools such as the Pompano Beach High School, Nova High School and the Elite Academy School of Excellence offer sports like Beach Volleyball and Water Polo, Swimming, Golf, Lacrosse, and Wrestling (what happened to our own Wrestling team, by the way?).

Let’s hope there are more sports for students who want to do more than show their talents on an athletic field.
