The Margate Department of Environmental Engineering Services (DEES) is currently reviewing plans for a new Sprouts grocery store to be built near the corner of Coconut Creek Blvd. and Lyons Rd. The same area is home to a Walgreens and medical offices.
Announced in April, the project has been the center of debate between Coconut Creek City Commissioners and developers. At issue is the envoironmental impact the store construction might have on the area; Margate provides water to the development area and officials of the DEES say plans for the store aren’t yet approved. EMG Equity Partners is the developer of the store.
Sprouts specializes in organic food and other specialty grocery items. The grocer operates nearly 400 stores in 23 states, including 35 in Florida. South Florida locations include Jupiter, West Palm Beach, Miramar, Boynton Beach, Oakland Park, Dania Beach and Homestead.
